Technology Opportunities Await

CyberPatriot’s National Youth Cyber Defense Competition challenges teams of high school and middle school students to find and fix cybersecurity vulnerabilities in virtual operating systems. Using a proprietary competition system, teams are scored on how secure they make the system. Top teams advance through the online round of competition, and the best of the best advance to the in-person National Finals Competition. Each team has two challenges during their six-hour competition period: Network Security Challenge: involves finding and fixing security vulnerabilities in Windows and Linux operating systems. Cisco Networking Challenge: consists of an online quiz and a virtual networking exercise based on specific training materials.

Procter & Gamble Co. and GE Aviation will be among local businesses that encourage more than 200 girls in grades six through nine to pursue careers in science via an all-day workshop at the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal. The tagline for the day is Space to be Me, and events will include building rockets. The goal is to provide a fun, encouraging and safe environment for students from underserved populations to explore science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM.

GCSC leads, connects, catalyzes, and amplifies STEM education/workforce development activity across the three-state, Greater Cincinnati region. It influences a broad network of partners through an advisory board, programs, communities of practice, communications, and convenings.

NaviGo College and Career Prep Services was founded in 2011 by a team led by Kentucky’s 2010 Superintendent of the Year, Tim Hanner. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Keenly aware of the challenges that students and parents face when it comes to navigating college and career planning, the NaviGo Way is all about making that process more manageable. Using student-specific assessment information and NaviGo’s proprietary curriculum, our coaches work closely with junior high and high school students and their families to make planning for the future a rewarding experience. Our unique system is designed to make strong students stronger and to help students with weaknesses identify those challenges in order to achieve better outcomes. The NaviGo team strives to make a positive difference in the lives of the students we work with so those students can take full advantage of the opportunities available to them.
