Cincinnati is one of the first cities where Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) is offering its new Amazon Key service that allows packages to be delivered directly into a customer’s home.
Amazon Key allows Amazon Prime members to purchase in-home kits that include a security camera, smart lock and access to an app for $249.99. The app provides real-time delivery notifications and allows the user to watch the delivery happen live or in a video clip later, while the hardware is installed for free by an Amazon representative.
Cincinnati is one of 37 cities where Amazon Key is currently available. Cleveland is the only other Ohio city included in the program.
Amazon also touts that the Cloud Cam included in its kits can be used as a regular security camera, while the smart lock can be used to allow access to others outside of its service as needed.
