The Cincinnati Chamber and the CIO Roundtable launched Apprenti Cincinnati in February 2019. This program is an affiliate partner of Apprenti, based out of Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA) in Seattle. As an affiliate of the national program, Apprenti Cincinnati is focused on attracting and developing tech talent, specifically women, minorities and veterans. Candidates are selected based upon their aptitude, assessed via a standard assessment, rather than their experience or background. Apprentices are hired by participating employers prior to enrolling in technical training. Once complete, they move into on-the-job training at the employer and complete the required 2000 hours for apprenticeship. Apprentices graduate with a year of relevant experience and a state recognized apprenticeship under their belt.

Maybe you have been interested in tech for years and didn’t pick a relevant major in college. Or maybe you realized that you have a knack for software and your current career doesn’t let you run with those skills. Maybe you’ve hit a wall in how far you can go in your career because you don’t have the right certification or a degree.

Apprenti Cincinnati focuses on candidates from all backgrounds and walks of life. The only requirement to sit for the assessment is that you are at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. There is no work requirement or technical experience. With Apprenti Cincinnati, you can transition to a new career in tech without the insecurity of trying to find a job without any relevant experience. Apprentices are hired by employers prior to the start of technical training. The training is paid for by the employer and you receive a salary and benefits once you begin the OJT at the employer. After completion, employers can make an offer for full-time employment and you have a year of relevant experience. Ready to get started?

If you work in a college or university setting, recruiting, veteran services, or workforce solutions, Apprenti Cincinnati could be a good fit for your students or clients. Candidates are selected by aptitude and grit – a resume or transcript is never required. Anyone over the age of 18 with a high school diploma or GED equivalent is encouraged to sign up or the assessment via After completing the assessment, candidates can interview for a new career in technology with roles ranging from software developer to network security admin.

The assessment is divided into three sections: math, critical thinking and soft skills. Candidates have 10 days to complete the assessment. If they pass, they will be invited to start the interview process with the Apprenti Cincinnati team.
